Flame retardant

Flame retardant additives are substances added to materials to inhibit or delay combustion. They can be broadly categorized as either reactive or additive, depending on how they interact with the material. Reactive flame retardants form a chemical bond with the material, becoming an integral part of its structure, while additive flame retardants are simply mixed in and not chemically bonded.

Additive flame retardants

Additive flame retardants can be applied in plastics, rubber, textiles, electronic components, and building materials. Tested and proven, they significantly slow down burning rates, suppress flame spread, and reduce the emission of toxic gases, enhancing overall fire safety. Depending on application requirements, UFC also offers halogen-free, low-smoke, or low-toxicity formulations, helping clients balance product performance with environmental and safety standards — achieving high safety with low risk in material design.

Reactive flame retardants

Reactive flame retardants are chemically integrated into polymers during polymerization or curing, ensuring permanent flame resistance and long-term durability. By becoming part of the material structure, they prevent migration or leaching, maintaining consistent fire safety performance throughout the product’s lifecycle. Depending on application needs, UFC provides halogen-free, phosphorus-based, or low-toxicity formulations, enabling clients to achieve superior flame retardancy while meeting environmental and safety regulations — delivering built-in protection with lasting reliability in material design.
